When is it time to Seriously Consider a Divorce in Louisville?

When is it time to Seriously Consider a Divorce in Louisville or Louisville

We are often asked “when is it time to seriously consider a divorce?”  How do you know when your marriage has come to the point where it’s time to consider moving on?

Spouses grow apart from one another during the course of a marriage for a variety of reasons.  It is natural to go through processes of identifying issues, adjusting behavior, falling back, arguing, and perhaps ultimately seeking counseling to help with your marriage.

There may be situations or occurrences which provide clues if it’s time to seriously consider a divorce in Louisville.  What are some of the common experiences which suggest divorce should be considered?

The most common issue expressed by many clients seeking a divorce is they feel completely emotionally disconnected from their spouse.  It may be one sided, or both parties may have reached the point in the relationship where they’ve lost the spousal connection.  In these cases the continuous arguments and fighting have stopped because one or both parties simply no longer have a reason to fight.

Another common experience which suggests it’s time to seriously consider a divorce is the presence of continuous confrontations, arguments and bickering which never gets anywhere.  Disagreement and even arguments are a natural part of any close relationship, including the spousal partnership.  In a healthy relationship, the parties actually make their relationship stronger by working through the issues to resolution.  If your experience is one of continuous arguments where either or both of you change your behavior this could be a genuine sign of incompatibility.

Infidelity is a common issue we discuss with our clients.  While infidelity itself will have little or no impact on the divorce itself, the presence of infidelity is another sign it is time to seriously consider a divorce.  When either or both of the spouses start to take a lot more care with their appearance, fitness or attractiveness it may be a strong signal they are preparing for the end of the marriage and looking to move on.

It may surprise you to learn that many couples who start the process of a divorce wind up reconciling.  The divorce and family law lawyers at Dodd & Dodd support this process because we want what is best for our clients.
