Communication Strategies are Important in a Louisville Divorce

Communication Strategies are Important in a Louisville Divorce Case

Most people have no idea that communication strategies are important in a Louisville divorce.  It’s not something one might think of but having a communication strategy is an essential component of getting a divorce.

The first thing you need to know is you are being closely observed and scrutinized by the Judge in your case at every point in the process of your divorce.  The Judge wants to know as much about you as possible in order to weigh the facts presented in a matter or to determine your fitness as a co-parent during child custody and visitation proceedings.  Do you appear to be trustworthy?  Responsible?  How you communicate, in Court and out, will absolutely have an impact on your divorce case.

The second reason communication strategies are important in a Louisville divorce is any communication between the parties can and often will become evidence during their divorce proceedings.  In essence, you need to approach every text, every voicemail, every email and every social media post (which is best avoided altogether) as if they will be read by literally everyone you know.

What?!  Yes, everyone you know.  As proven Louisville family law attorneys with decades of experience we can tell you some of the worst pieces of evidence against the parties in a divorce come from their own hand or voice.  An angry voicemail, text or email fired off in the midst of an argument can and will be used as evidence during a divorce.  These can become part of the public record for anyone to read in the future.  This includes your family, friends, children, neighbors, nosey co-workers, and those you don’t care for.

Communication strategies are important in a Louisville divorce in order to protect your own interests.  You want to be in the strongest position possible at every stage of the proceedings.  Make sure you are in a calm state before communicating in any manner with your former spouse.  Literally, everyone is watching.  Don’t give the other side information which they can and will use to keep you from accomplishing your own goals.

We invite you to review the strong recommendations of our former clients and contact us or call 502-584-1108 to schedule an appointment with one of our experienced divorce and family law attorneys.
